Dong In Danny Choi (b. 1998) is a young composer and performer based in Vancouver. From a young age, he taught himself composition, orchestration, and six different instruments. His pieces have been played by the Vancouver and Victoria Symphony Orchestras, the Standing Wave Ensemble, Erato Ensemble, and various UBC student groups. Dong In Danny Choi (b. 1998) is a young composer and performer based in Vancouver. After developing an interest for music at the age of 10, he taught himself composition, orchestration, and various instruments in various styles, including piano, clarinet, saxophone, guitar, drums, and cello. He has been involved in multiple ensembles, including the UBC Symphonic Wind Ensemble, UBC Choirs, BCMEA Vocal Jazz Choir, and the North Vancouver District Honour Band and String Ensembles. He conducted the Argyle Senior Concert Band in the premiere of his piece Carpé Diem in 2016. His pieces have been played by the Vancouver and Victoria Symphony Orchestras, the Standing Wave Ensemble, Erato Ensemble, and various UBC student groups. Receiving the Ernest Wesley Cubitt Sharpe Memorial Scholarship, he is currently a studying composition at the University of British Columbia with Stephen Chatman, Dorothy Chang, and Keith Hamel. Dong In Danny Choi (b. 1998) is a versatile young composer and performer based in Vancouver. After developing an interest for music at the age of 10, he taught himself composition, orchestration, and various instruments in various styles, including piano, clarinet, saxophone, guitar, drums, and cello. With his diverse spectrum of instruments, he is able to compose and perform in classical, choral, jazz, rock, funk, pop, and contemporary worship genres. Similarly, he has been involved in multiple ensembles, including the UBC Symphonic Wind Ensemble, UBC Choirs, BCMEA Honour Vocal Jazz Choir, and the North Vancouver District Honour Band and String Ensembles, as well as various jazz bands. He has also conducted the Argyle Senior Concert Band in the premiere of his piece Carpé Diem in 2016. On weekends, Choi is the music director, accompanist, and part of the tech staff at Lynn Valley Korean Methodist Church.
